Journal of Surgery and Medicine (JOSAM) aims to bring important work using any medical research to a wide international audience and therefore only publish papers with strong and valuable messages that advance our understanding of medicine. The research presented includes case studies. Both experimental and clinical studies are accepted, as are descriptive accounts, although these must offer insights into issues of general interest to medical doctors. The journal publishes in the field of original research, case report, reviews, and letters to the editor are published only in English.

Editorial Board and JOSAM comply with the criteria of the International Council of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Journal of Surgery and Medicine (JOSAM) is an international peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes manuscripts describing both clinical, experimental, and basic science research. JOSAM publishes original articles on all aspects of health science (including all branches of medicine). Manuscripts must describe original data that has not been published previously nor submitted for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts that adhere to the submission guidelines and are deemed appropriate for the scope of the journal are sent to two reviewers who are specialists in the field. The reviewers’ comments are then considered by the members of the JOSAM Editors and Editorial Board members who discuss the suitability of each submission. The final decision for all submitted manuscripts concluded with the Editors.

"Journal of Surgery and Medicine" (JOSAM) is open access, scientific publication that organizes international, independent, impartial, and double-blind reviews in accordance with the guidelines. JOSAM is published three times a year before 2019; however, it will be published monthly after 2019. JOSAM publishes manuscripts in the English language. The mandatory full-text language is English. The aim of the journal is to contribute to the literature, which is the hand, arm, and language of scientists who are trying to publish, by publishing articles such as "Research article", "Case report" and "Review" articles should not be published anywhere else previously and should not be under review for publication in another journal. The articles that are not prepared according to the author guidelines will not be considered.

Processing and the publication are free of charge with the journal. No fees are requested from the authors at any point throughout the evaluation and publication process. All manuscripts must be submitted via the online submission system, which is available at http://jsurgmed.com. The journal technical information, author guidelines, and the required forms are available on the web page. Statements or opinions expressed in the manuscripts published in the journal reflect the views of only the author(s) of the paper. JOSAM, publisher, editorial board members, editors, and reviewers disclaim any responsibility or liability for such materials. JOSAM holds the international copyright of all the content published in the journal.
Since its establishment, the journal has determined the "International Committee of Medical Journal Editors" (ICMJE), "World Association of Medical Editors " (WAME), "Council of Science Editors" (CSE), "Committee of Publication Ethics" (COPE), " European Association Science Editors" (EASE) and "National Information Standards Organization" (NISO) as the guidelines in its editorial and publication processes.

JOSAM is accepting manuscripts covering the subject areas of health sciences, including but not limited to the following fields:

The first criteria, originality and high scientific quality were determined in the articles that were planned to be published in the journal. All articles submitted to the journal are passed through the double-blind review process. In the event of a dispute between the referees, the article will be forwarded to a third referee or an editorial board member. The final decision-making authority of all articles in the decision-making process is the editorial board. Opinions and ideas expressed in articles published in the journal are the opinions of authors only. The responsibility of the published content belongs to the authors. The editorial board and the publisher cannot undertake the responsibility of the published articles. The similarity in articles -"Plagiarism"- has been tested for all articles. Documents with inappropriate will be returned to the authors. The manuscripts will need to be unpublished in another magazine, book, or any other media before. For the studies presented in scientific congresses, the full name, date, and place of the congress should be stated on the "Title Page".

The ICMJE suggests that the authors meet the following four criteria: 1. To contribute to the content of the work/design and collection, analysis, and interpretation of data for study; 2. To have drafted the writing essay or have made critical reviews with important intellectual content; 3. To have reviewed and approved the last version of the article before its publication; 4. To accept the responsibility for all aspects of working to ensure that questions concerning the validity and validity of any part of the work are properly investigated and resolved.
JOSAM assumes that each person in the list of articles submitted is defined as a writer in the scope specified above, in accordance with the signed statement of the responsible author. JOSAM refers to existing or potential conflicts of interest, including financial, institutional, and other relationships that may lead to potential conflicts of interest or prejudices in the evaluation process of the presented articles. The authors agree to be sent for the publication of the manuscript and transferred to JOSAM in accordance with the signed statement of the responsible author. The rejected articles will be returned to their authors. Authors who use previously published content, including pictures, tables, or other content in printed or electronic format, must obtain permission from the copyright owner. Legal, financial, and criminal liability in this respect is the property of the authors. There is no fee for writing articles, evaluating articles, accepting, and publishing articles.
In this context, the consolidated form "Copyright Transfer, Conflict of Interest and Financial Disclosure Statements", which is available as a "statement" containing author contributions, potential conflicts of interest, and right of publication, A sample signed by the author must be uploaded to the system along with the text.

Helsinki Declaration and Informed consent

In all studies with the "human" element, the principle of complying with the "Helsinki declaration principles" is sought. In such research, the authors refer to the "Methods and methods" section of the study in accordance with the "Helsinki Declaration principles", Ethical committee approval, and "informed consent" by those participating in the study. The institution and number/date information for the ethics committee approval should only be given on the title page. If "Animal" substance is used in the study, authors are obliged to indicate that they are working in accordance with the principles of "manuals and methods for the use of laboratory animals" and to conduct research in accordance with ethical rules. The Committee of experiments used by animals, the institution, and the number/date information concerning the Ethical committee approval of the experimental animals should only be given on the title page. In case-report presentations, it should be noted that "informed consent" has been received independently of the patient's identity. Patients have privacy rights that should not be violated without receiving informed consent. The identification of the information, including the patient's name, initials, or hospital numbers, should not be published in written descriptions, photographs unless necessary for scientific purposes, and the patient (or parent or guardian) written for publication informed consent. The notified consent for this purpose requires that an identifiable patient be presented with the published manuscript. TheAuthors should identify the individuals who help the authors and disclose the resources of this help. Specifying details should be skipped when they are not required. However, it is difficult to obtain complete anonymity, and if you have doubts, informed consent should be taken. For example, the eye area mask in photos of patients is insufficient protection of anonymity. If identifying characteristics are altered to protect anonymity, such as in genetic pedigrees, authors should provide assurance that alterations do not distort scientific meaning and editors should so note.
The Declaration of Helsinki states that "Every clinical trial must be registered in a publicly accessible database before recruitment of the first subject".

Review process
Provided that the manuscript complies with the manuscript preparation guidelines, it goes through a reviewing process: the manuscript is seen first by the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board members, then sent to at least two blinded-peer-reviewers. Reviewer forms should be submitted to the journals within 30 days. Reviewers may accept the article as it is, requests minor or major revisions, or decline. In case there is a disagreement between reviewers, the manuscript may be sent to an extra reviewer. The article can be published only after the required revisions are fulfilled by the author. However, taking into consideration the recommendations of the reviewers, the final decision belongs to the Editor. Note that a double-blind peer review system is adopted; the reviewer is unaware of the identity of the author, and the author is also unaware of the identity of the reviewer.

Corrections / Revisions
When submitting the revised version, they must mark the changes they have made in the main text and, in addition, send the "correction letter" (Reply to referee) on suggestions proposed by the referees. In response to revision in the review phase or pre-review phase, the revised article's files should be submitted to journals within 30 days following the decision letter. If the revised version does not install in the specified time, the option may be canceled and the article will be declined. If the authors need additional time for revision, they should send the extension requests to the journals within the first 30 days.
The articles accepted for publication are checked for grammar, punctuation, and format. Printed PDF files (PDF proof) of accepted articles are forwarded to the responsible author, and the publication changes/checks/approvals are requested within 30 days. If the proof version of the paper has not been approved or checked in the specified time, the process of the paper will be canceled and declined. Publication of completed articles will be published in an early online format on the journal website before publication with the number in the release plan.

CHECK-LIST
-1 Send the statement as a pdf or jpg file
-2 Send the title-page file as a docx file which has only the title and information of the authors.
-3 Send the blind-text file as one docx file which has all parts (tables, figures) of the manuscript but no author information.

Other recommendations
- Please correct and check the references rule as specified in the "Reference" section.
- If you have full-text writing for other types appearing in the system, you do not need to submit the files to different categories, such as "research materials", "research results", and preferably all article sections are sent in a single file.

REVISION STAGE (IF APPLICABLE)

- Please add the revised documents

- Do not send revisions as a new manuscript

-Add "Rev (revision number)" To the end of the file name for the files in the revision phase.

Withdraw Policy and Obligations

Withdrawal of a manuscript: As its production approaches, the Journal of Surgery and Medicine assigns the accompanying obligations and duties to its author(s) and distribution advisory group amid the withdrawal of an original copy.

Authors

On the off chance that the authors identify a blunder or a slip-up in their compositions amid the early discharge or the assessment process, they have a commitment to participate with the journal’s proofreader for the withdrawal process. Each author must sign the Withdrawal Form (detailed information, ID, title, about the manuscript) with a completely clarified reason and mail it to josam@jsurgmed.com. The author is allowed to withdraw the manuscript without paying any withdrawal penalty if the author(s) requests to withdraw the manuscript in the pre-review stage. If the author(s) requests a withdrawal of the manuscript, after the pre-review stage; review, acceptance, and production stage; then the authors should pay a withdrawal penalty. In the advanced stage of the editorial process, when peer reviews were near completion or completed, were unacceptable unless there are compelling reasons. The editorial committee looks at the withdrawal requests (due in 30 days). Unless the council supports the withdrawal of a related article of which the copyright is renounced and exchanged to the Journal of Surgery and Medicine, the authors can't send their original copies for assessment, submission, or publication to different journals.

Editors

The distribution panel of the Journal of Surgery and Medicine has a commitment to dispatch an examination if there is any uncertainty of copyright or counterfeiting for a distributed composition or an original copy in early discharge or the assessment. In the consequence of the examination, if the distribution board chooses that there is a copyright or written falsification issue in the original copy nearby, it pulls back the survey procedure and returns the composition to the writers by referring to in detail the recognized circumstances. On the off chance that the production council distinguishes a copyright issue or written falsification in an original copy whether distributed or in early discharge, it starts the withdrawal procedure and finishes the notice procedure. For the original copy in which moral encroachment is recognized;

1. "Pulled back" explanation is added beside the title of the electronic variant of the original copy.

2. In the areas of Abstract and Full Text, the purposes behind withdrawal are composed, references for proof are given in detail, and the statement of the subsidiary foundations and associations of the author(s) are additionally distributed.

3. The explanations behind withdrawal are announced on the site of the journal.

4. After the withdrawal date, in the substance rundown of the electronic adaptation of the primary number of the journal to be distributed, "Pulled back: The Title of the Manuscript" is included, beginning from the principal page the purposes behind withdrawal and references of the first references are imparted to open and analysts.

5. To the associated foundations of the author(s), the withdrawal see is sent.

6. The previously mentioned withdrawal see is sent to the associations and organizations in which the journal is filed, and to the Presidency of the National Library for the composition to be recorded in file frameworks and lists.

In addition, the distribution advisory group may recommend to the distributors and production boards of the author(s) who have morally encroached to pull back or secure the legitimacy and unwavering quality of the articles which are distributed.

This statement is based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors, Guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
We accept all terms and conditions of COPE about plagiarism and in case, any attempt of plagiarism is brought to our attention accompanied by convincing evidence, we act based on flowcharts and workflows determined in COPE.
The production of an article in an associate audited journal is a fundamental building hinder in the improvement of a rational and regarded system of information. It is an immediate impression of the nature crafted by the creators and the organizations that help them. Associate evaluated articles support and encapsulate the logical technique.
It is subsequently imperative to heaps of expected moral conduct for all gatherings associated with the demonstration of distributing: the creator, the journal manager, the companion commentator, the distributor, and the general public of society-claimed or supported journals.

Open Access Policy

This is an open-access journal, which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in the Journal of Surgery and Medicine (JOSAM) without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition of open access.

The BOAI arises from a meeting convened in Budapest by the Open Society Institute (OSI) on 1st – 2nd December 2001. The purpose of the meeting was to accelerate progress in the international effort to make research articles in all academic fields freely available on the Internet. The participants represented many points of view, many academic disciplines, and many nations, and had to experience many of the ongoing initiatives that make up the open access movement. In Budapest, they explored how the separate initiatives could work together to achieve broader, deeper, and faster success. They explored the most effective and affordable strategies for serving the interests of research, researchers, and the institutions and societies that support research. Finally, they explored how OSI and other foundations could use their resources most productively to aid the transition to open access and to make open access publishing economically self-sustaining. The result is the Budapest Open Access Initiative. It is at once a statement of principle, a statement of strategy, and a statement of commitment.

All articles are free to read and reuse immediately upon publication under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 (CC BY NC ND) license. The license allows users to copy and distribute the article, provided this is not done for commercial purposes, and further does not permit distribution of the article if it is changed or edited in any way and provided the user gives appropriate credit (with a link to the formal publication through the relevant DOI), provides a link to the license, and that the licensor is not represented as endorsing the use made of the work.

JOSAM aims to provide quality peer-reviewed, open access articles to thousands of physicians. The journals include papers on all the related basic and clinical medicine areas.

Ethics Policy

Publication Ethics

The publication process at JOSAM is the basis of the improvement and dissemination of information objectively and respectfully. Therefore, the procedures in this process improve the quality of the studies. Peer-reviewed studies are the ones that support and materialize the scientific method. At this point, it is of utmost importance that all parties included in the publication process (authors, readers and researchers, publisher, reviewers, and editors) comply with the standards of ethical considerations. JOSAM expects all parties to hold the following ethical responsibilities.
All manuscripts must have an ethics code issued by the relevant ethical committee, and academic/research institute. Please kindly provide us with the ethics code of your manuscript.

The following ethical duties and responsibilities are written in the light of the guidelines and policies made by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

The editorial board of the journal reviewed the COPE Forum’s recommendations and has decided to continue to ask for ethics committee approval for every study submitted to the journal from all countries. If the study requires ethics approval, the authors will be asked to provide this. If they cannot provide ethics approval, the journal will reject the manuscript. If a study does not need ethics committee approval after review (If the author expresses that the study does not need ethics committee approval), the journal will ask authors for confirmation from an ethics committee or an independent committee indicating that the study does not need ethics committee approval according to the research integrity rules in their country.

Plagiarism Check

All submissions will be checked with plagiarism software (iThenticate: Plagiarism Detection Software, Turnitin, PaperPass Plagiarism Checker, Plagiarism Checker | Grammarly) in 2 stages: New Submission and After Acceptance from the editorial boards.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

The authors who submit their manuscripts to JOSAM are expected to comply with the following ethical responsibilities:

Author(s) must submit original studies to the journal. If they utilize or use other studies, they must make the in-text and end-text references accurately and completely.
People who have not contributed to the study at the intellectual level should not be indicated as authors.

If the manuscripts submitted to be published subject to conflicting interests or relations, these must be explained.
During the review process of their manuscripts, author(s) may be asked to supply raw data. In such a case, the author(s) should be ready to submit such data and information to the editorial and scientific boards.
Author(s) should document that they have the participants' consent and the necessary permissions related to the sharing and research/analysis of the data that are used.

Author(s) should secure written consent from the patient; Due to its nature of being a detailed description of an individual patient’s clinical presentation and therapy, a case report almost always contains information that could be traced back to the individual in question.

Author(s) bears the responsibility to inform the editor of the journal or publisher if they happen to notice a mistake in their study which is in the early release or publication process and to cooperate with the editors during the correction or withdrawal process.

Authors cannot submit their studies to multiple journals simultaneously. Each submission can be made only after the previous one is completed. A study published in another journal cannot be submitted to JOSAM.

Author responsibilities are given in a study (e.g.: adding an author, reordering of author names) whose review process has begun and cannot be changed.

The authors should accept to sign the following statement;

I certify that this assignment/report is my own work, based on my personal study and/or research and that I have acknowledged all material and sources used in its preparation, whether they be books, articles, reports, lecture notes, and any other kind of document, electronic or personal communication. I also certify that this assignment/report has not previously been submitted for assessment in any other unit, except where specific permission has been granted from all unit coordinators involved, or at any other time in this unit, and that I have not copied in part or whole or otherwise plagiarized the work of other students and/or persons.

The fact that all manuscripts are reviewed through "Blind Review" has a direct influence on the publication quality. This process ensures confidentiality through an objective and independent review. The review process at JOSAM is carried out on the principle of double-blind review. Reviewers do not contact the authors directly, and the reviews and comments are conveyed through the journal management system. In this process, the reviewer's views on the evaluation forms and full texts are assigned to the author(s) by the editor. Therefore, the reviewers doing review work for JOSAM are supposed to bear the following ethical responsibilities:

inform the editor of the journal if they think that they encounter a conflict of interests and decline to review the manuscript during the review process.

review the manuscript objectively and only in terms of its content and ensure that nationality, gender, religious and political beliefs, and economic apprehension do not influence the review.
review the manuscript in a constructive and kind tone, and avoid making personal comments including hostility, slander, and insult.
